Who is this course for?
Our Local School Program is designed for young learners who would like to experience life at an Australian school. This is a 2-week program and it has specific start dates throughout the year.
SPC organises homestay accommodation, school programs and airport transfers for the students. Home stay families have a Blue Card Certificate (the Queensland clearance certificate for people working with children and young people), provide daily transfer to and from school and provide 3 meals a day.
The local schools organise which classes students go to. The grade students go to might be different from the one in the students' home country depending on the local school's availability. Students usually have school buddies (except for students going to a primary school).
Our local school partners are Trinity Anglican School and Freshwater Christian College. Placement depends on availability.
The focus of this program is on experience. Students might not be able to have access to school materials or equipment such as school laptops.
What to bring?
Pen & paper, notebook, towel and consumable goods, such as soap and shampoo, sunscreen, hat, umbrella, swimming gear, dictionary, sea sickness tablet, camera and money.
